The ‘celebration of Julie’ day on Thursday 31st August with funeral and wake was a ‘wonderfully’ emotional, proud and intensely special day saying goodbye for now to Julie and celebrating her life. We think there were over 300 people there, filling every available space and all coming together to be there for each other. When the family cars pulled into the chapel there were SO many people there. Heads bowed, still, peaceful and patiently waiting to say their goodbyes too. It was overwhelming but special. I was able to deliver my heart-felt, personalised ‘story of Julie’ on behalf of our family and friends without being overcome by emotion too many times as I would glance across to Julie frequently as I read it to her. I feel proud because it was such a beautiful story to tell, and even got a laugh or two! An honour and privilege.. The wake/reception was really great- noisy, chatty, lots of energy with laughter -a true celebration. A wall of rolling photos and great music was played. A beautiful toast was made on behalf of us all. We chatted, cried and laughed until late I guess our reality starts now because even on the day I said ‘ I can’t believe this has happened’. But as the final poem.. ‘she is Gone” ‘says “You can shed tears that she is gone or you can smile because she has lived “ ❤️❤️. Thank you for your love and support in attending Julie’s day of celebration Xxxxx
